We encountered the following "issues" and queries while using the FAM module. We're not sure if we are just missing something in the setup or these are indeed the standard behavior of NetSuite. 1. What is the purpose of the FAM Lifetime subtab in the Asset Type record? It doesn't seem to drive the default values in the Asset record depending on the Location. 2. Is it best practice to enable the preference to use custom transactions for the FAM transactions such as depreciation, revaluation, etc.? Or is it better to stick to the regular Journal Entries? One downside of custom transactions is that they are incompatible with multi-book accounting. But other than that, is it any better? 3. Why do the inspection details from the Asset Type record not carry over to the Asset records? Warranty details default but not inspection details. 4. The default "today's date" on the Asset Proposal page is actually tomorrow's date. Is that the case for everyone too? 5. How can we delete the compound assets? We can't use the Delete Assets functionality as stated in the Help Center. Manually deleting it prompts the dependent records notification. We can't manually unlink the component as well. 6. How is the asset lifetime of the compound asset calculated? 7. The Journal Entry lines related to FAM transactions do not have a link or a note about the related Asset record. Is there a workaround on this? 8. When we do an Asset Transfer from one subsidiary to another, we setup an Other Current Asset and an Other Current Liability in the Asset Transfer Accounts. NetSuite creates two regular Journal Entries to record the subsidiary transfer that are not marked for Elimination although the account records are marked as such. We are expecting that NS will create an advanced intercompany JE that is marked for elimination. 9. It seems that the project associated with the Asset record is not automatically copied to the disposal invoice that is generated. Is that really the case? Is there a workaround, maybe a script?

FAM is a freaking disaster - I'd look into NetAsset instead - similar price point if you don't have boatloads of assets.

Yeah, I saw that SuiteApp too. Thanks! By the way, do you know if we can ask NS to not grant us access to the FAM bundle, so that we won't pay for it anymore?
k
That can only be removed at renewal

Got it. Thank you!
