Hi, we are evaluating ERP options and NetSuite is one of our top choices. Any suggestion you have for implementation or general advices for expectations if we choose NetSuite? Thanks!!

Regardless of what platform you pick, and who you pick to help you, it's your project. If your staff can't pick up additional work, you need to adjust appropriately internally. No one can put in above 100% effort for an extended period of time and be successful

Thank you! Basically I need to do more of heavy lifting work with any implementation team I choose, and try to keep the process in a reasonable period.

Agree with KevinJ, but I would also highly recommend a 3rd party integrator. Netsuite Professional Services is...let's be nice...not great.

Netsuite native support is terrible, so choose 3rd party without any doubt. I'm very angry because today I had another issue which Netsuite refuses to acknowledge as defect. "A standard behavior of the system and not a Defect." - that's all they can respond 😡

@Arūnas Žindžius Sorry for what you are going through. It sounds frustrating. Hopefully they address your issue soon.
They quoted us a package includes professional service support. Wondering if we should drop that and just seek a 3rd party support package.

Seek 3rd party support first
the 3rd party can probably also negotiate a better discount for you
don't sign anything until you know who your integrator is

Thanks! @AK47 An integrator is an implementation partner, right?

I've actually had mixed feedback on NS support - if you're paying for platinum, many of the complaints I have with general NS support go way down.. but then... you are paying for platinum.
That said - in general, I'd push for a 3rd party implementation team unless your business is pretty cookie cutter.
or you are willing to make drastic changes to your operations to match the ERP
full disclaimer - I worked 6 years at one partner, and now I'm working at another - so that's a self interested opinion.

Thanks @KevinJ of Kansas Appreciate your insights! NetSuite recommended that we work with one of their 3rd party consultants for implementation due to some of the requirements we have. We felt torn if it worth going with them, but it sounds like it would worth the additional cost.

You might shop around a bit independent of NS's recommendation as well.

I have some articles on the data migration process on my website. Feel free to take a look and DM me with specific questions.

Thanks @Paul Giese

I would ask the 3rd party what their implementation methodology is. If they follow any type of SuiteSuccess methodology then you are getting a cookie cutter implementation. If you have any unique business processes that you must adhere to then you need a true consultative implementation partner who will guide you through using NetSuite in unique ways and suggest gap solutions that can range from manual work to fully automated solutions to meet your unique requirements. I’m an implementation consultant for going on 8 years. For 3 years before that I worked in industry and implemented NetSuite for 2 companies. Unless you are a start up the SuiteSuccess cookie cutter approach rarely is a good fit and will leave you lacking. If you can’t talk with the implementation partner you are considering and get good honest feedback and feel they understand your business and where you are unique - you need to keep looking. If things are not “great” during the scoping process, they usually don’t get better during requirements gathering and implementation.
