I have some Matrix child items created from a parent that had the wrong Expense Account specified. Upon importing updates to the expense account for the parent, I used the Update Matrix button, but the children items are still associated w/ the wrong Expense Account. Any advice on how to update these items?

Pray to the dark gods. I mean. Call NetSuite Support

Figured it out. The Expense Account field for the child items can still be imported to even though it’s hidden. So, I will have update them all individually even though the parent matrix item was already updated.
m
Not sure but I never see the expense account on the child items, just the parent. Are you sure they are attached to the parent?
n
@Michael McNamara Yup, they are attached. Expense account is hidden, but still assigned based on the selection of the parent item.
k
Yeah, it just gets suppressed in the UI - the field is still there
m
OK. Then maybe you can do a csv import.
k
That said, I can't stand doing CSV imports on matrix items. So easy to have a little mistake that invalidates thousands of records
m
If you keep it simple o two columns….internalID and expense account, it shouldn’t cause a problem.
n
That’s the plan!
k
Oh I meant in creating them.
n
Creation is definitely a pain.

A good csv template on hand that you know works always helps
