Using a workflow with a saved search to send some emails. Is it possible to provide filter parameters for the saved search in the workflow or do I have to create multiple workflows / saved searches for different scenarios?

I have not found a way to do this. You could make it all 1 workflow but would need to make multiple saved searches with the different criteria Each saved search/criteria would be a different state in the workflow and each state could have its own email template Then you would set the unique saved searches as the criteria of the transition to the corresponding state
