Hey all. When trying to receive multiple lot numbered item on a PO, I get this message when trying to save. What does this mean? “The serial number for the intercompany inventory transfer item received must match the serial number on the intercompany order fulfillment.”
b
sounds like someone is changing the inventory detail on the receipt for one or more items, which means it/they differ from the fulfillment, which triggered this error. i've not gotten this error before, just my interpretation of the message.
m
I don’t see a fulfillment. Where should I look?
How do I trace the error?
b
we don't explicitly use ICPOs but this error sounds similar to one i think you could get with using TOs. Does the ICPO start as a PO, then create a fulfillment, then finally a receipt in the new subsidiary/company? I'd start at the PO and look at related records subtab to see what is there for associated transactions. see what value is set on the PO, if any, for inventory detail. then try to replicate that behavior with the receipt. are you solely working with lot numbers or are you working with bins and/or serial numbers as well?
m
I will investigate, but i just noticed that maybe one of the lot numbers they tried to use on receiving is not on the item fulfillment shipped to them that related to this PO.. That might be it.
So the error might be on just that number and not the entire list.
b
that sounds like it would be a problem.
correct. that error is specific to a line but it's not helpful enough in providing a line number. also, it may not be the only error, just the first. that's why i phrased my first comment as "one or more" items. solving that may not put you fully in the clear.
m
That was it! So you can’t receive lot numbers that aren’t on the item fulfillment. Thanks for your help. I’m a bit new to Lot/Serialized items.
b
no problem. yeah, that sounds like a normal behavior. get used to the annoying nuances of lot and serialized items. those types of errors are fairly common. hopefully you don't have to get too much practice in figuring them out. best of luck to ya!
m
LOL! Thanks
Is there a faster way to pull up all lot numbers shipped rather than fishing through item fulfillments to find them?
b
not quite sure what you mean. all lot numbers shipped for a given PO or what? my default answer would be to used a search to query the fulfillment(s) of a given PO and result lot numbers so you could see them all (might be under the Inventory detail... section at the end of the search results)
m
Yep. A saved Search/Report what I thought. I just wondered if they had an out-of-the-box feature to find incoming Lot numbers for a PO. I’ll do a report.
it would be helpful when they receive from a PO so they know what Lot numbers are available to receive.
