I have an item that is set to use a bin. Most of the item is showing up in a bin but a certain quantity does not have a bin. How can I adjust that out?

This usually happens when an item receipt is made but not put into a bin. If you can find that item receipt and the period is not closed, modify and put in bin. If you cannot find the item receipt or the period is closed then you need to... 1 turn off bins for that item 2 adjust out the quantity not in a bin 3 turn bins on for that item 4 adjust quantity back into the bin its physically in (or do not do this step if you dont actually have this inventory)

1. Is there a straightforward way for me to trace that item receipt? 2. If I go through the solution you propose would I have to set the bins again for the whole quantity?

You do not need to do anythung with quantities already in bins, turning bins off and back on will not touch those
You can get the bin detail in a transaction search by joining the the
inventory details fields..
at the bottom. The lines that come back in the search without those would be your culprit. As an example, that top line has no inventory detail.

Thank you for the help. One last question. Are there any other transactions that can create thus situation besides item receipts?

inventory adjustment could as well, any transaction that brings stuff into inventory could cause it. There is no setting to require bins on item receipts and it's the most common way to get inventory, so thats why I would start there
