Hi, I'm trying to use the "*Budget vs. Actual By Month by Budget Lines"* report. I can get an actual cost to appear, but nothing in the Cost Budget column. Can someone advise what I'm doing wrong. Thanks

Do you have the right budget category selected?

When I created the budget I only had a budget category of "legacy" and see there is options of creating others by using the + icon. Do I need to link the budget category to a project somehow?

Budget for Budget vs Actual isn't tied to projects module
You might be able to define a project as a customer - but I've never tried.
So it sounds like to me - that you are trying to use the project budget on the project record as opposed to a budget entry

So can I create a budget elsewhere in NetSuite that is linked to the projects? The budget needs to be broken down by GL line as we budget down to this level. Thanks for your advise so far.

That looks like project profitability reporting - which isn't the same thing as the budget tool

You get these when you go into setup enable features, and select "advance project budgets" under the projects section.

Right. I was thinking you were looking at this initially - which is not the same tool.
So - now that we know you're talking about advanced profitability reporting - I'm going to bow out.
As I've never had a reason to upload budgets in combination with it.
