I am trying to get to the Payment record's Payment method value from a transaction search. I can get to the transaction with applying transaction, but applying transaction fields... payment method gives no result, when I clearly have a value in the field on the record 😞

I've had this issue in the past before too, it seems like Payment Method only lives on the main line of the Payment, but the links to the applied transactions aren't on the main line so you can't get the value. I've never found a solution but if anyone here knows of one, I'm sure my accounting department would be very appreciative.

One way, Depending on your search results make criteria Main Line Either. Then use Summary to roll up to a single line.

I've tried some variations on that without success - I've only ever been able to get main line info from the Payment or info from the applied to transactions (or vice versa if starting from whatever transaction type they're applied to). Do you have an example where you've been able to get both in the same set of results? Whenever we've needed that info we've always had to do two searches and aggregate the data in Excel.

@MTNathan I see what you mean. Can you start your search from the Payment and join to the Applied To transactions? alternatively Analytics 'should' get to that.

It looks like starting from the Payment works, not sure why we didn't do that in the past - we may have also needed info from the applied-to Invoices'

transactions, which that structure won't allow in saved searches. I'll have to give Analytics a shot next time a similar request comes up since that doesn't have the same limitations there.
