I know the best practice is to have one retained earnings account and to use the NS generated Retained Earnings account. I however am dealing with a non-profit that has multiple retained earnings account due to restricted vs unrestricted. For example account 2055 ties with subsidiary A and account 2010 ties with Subsidiary B. When looking at subsidiary B's TB, NS is closing out to Retained earnings into account 2055 INSTEAD of 2010. Doesn't make sense to me since that account isn't even associated with that subsidiary. Does anyone know how to handle this?

Assuming Subsidiary A and B are separate legal entities, each will have its own COA, correct?
j
@Mike Some accounts, they share, some they don't

If they are separate legal entities, then they must have separate COAs. They cannot share, although they may have a similar COA.
j
@Mike They can share
Subsidiary hierarchy is set up as • Parent ā—¦ Sub A ā—¦ Sub B

I was under the impression you couldn't set a retained earnings account per subsidiary. Netsuite will always roll it up to the same place, then you can journal between retained earnings accounts
