Anyone seen this error before: `The result field xxx cannot be grouped. Please edit the search and omit this field or use a different summary function.`? The field I'm trying to group by is a custom List/Record - Transaction field on a Revenue Recognition Plan

I've gotten this a bunch in the past. I usually work around it by grouping on the Document Number (or some similar unique identifier) on the related Transaction instead of the Transaction field itself.

you can use a formula field and then just enter the field as the formula. I believe this will allow it to go through.

I have found this work-around is useful for some other scenarios (like long field values that would otherwise get cut-off).

In a formula(text) it'll go up to 1000 characters.

I suppose I should just say to use this at your own risk. I've not noticed any issues, but can't say I looked too hard either.
