Example:

There is a preference on the General Preferences page that allows you to add (not replace) the Display Name after the Item Name in all dropdown lists (not just SO). During a CSV import, though, you need to consider the Display Name as well for the Item column. (You can set the External ID the same with Item Name anw.)
