@KevinJ of Kansas, is there an easy answer as to why? i dont have much experience with multi-book, is that just more of a long term pain?
k
Multibook is not for "Sub A doesn't belong to Sub B"
Multibook is for "I have a transaction I need to record two different ways"
(or more)
Better to get the right Subsidiary layout than to bother with that.
a
points taken and sorry for the confusion but looks like it does fall under the company A but company Z is only included in the audited financials but not for internal financials
k
Oh then I'd probably throw a custom segment on for that.
Or a custom field on the subsidiary
a
to be able to filter it out?
k
that I could use as a filter
yeah.
a
thanks!
k
I've done that with another client before where they insisted on being able to do different rollups... I told them "your elimination stuff probably goes all haywire doing this"
They didn't do much proper eliminating so they didn't care.

a
as far as i know mine wants the eliminations working properly so ill need to dig in a little deeper on what they actually need but this def helps investigating the different options
k
The custom segment might be a better answer there
because then you can flag the elimination JEs with that segment
where appropriate
I'd be more inclined to do something like the following
(hold on - gotta make image)

Most folks may not care too much about eliminations from an internal operations standpoint - so you could probably get away with that.
a
that's a restructure tho right?
k
Yeah, definitely.
if Sub that isn't already internal is included in Subs that are
a
its not in NS at all..
k
Is the client in NS at all already?
a
partially
k
live?
a
yes, big lift to bring on the rest of their companies
k
Yeah. Well, at least you've got a few options to examine. I can promise you this - you'd have to hold a gun to my head to solve that problem with Multibook.
a
haha great.. honestly, that's what i needed to hear
thanks again!
