I think Netsuite changes this automatically based on the number of possible options. but i may be wrong

even if its the same number of results - i still see two different types of drop-downs for different roles

check your "maximum entries in dropdowns" in both roles
Also - can one role see results that the other can't?

the View drop-down in a custom record for some roles it shows up as a regular drop-down for some others it shows up as a list

it depends on the number of results in the list as well as the settings under preferences. Both could be different depending on role (one role could see more results, and roles could have different preferences enabled)
I've had all sorts of issues with this. We have one drop down that shows a "list/search" even when there are only two results for anyone/everyone - changed a few months back. NS claims it was always like this and I've gotten tired of fighting them on it.

oh i understand the view drop-down has 8 results
