What is a fair salary for someone a general IT person w/ a NetSuite Essentials certification and 2.5 years of HelpDesk experiences administering and developing the NetSuite System as they learn how to?

Not sure what Essentials cert is - is that SuiteFoundations exam? Sounds like you are trying to get salary ranges to compare your own against, and it will be tough to say without knowing the cost of living of you area. Anderson Frank does a salary survey that is free to download when you give them your email to spam messages to. The survey definitely represents high cost of living areas but can give you a benchmark to start with.

Of Course. You could start from 17-1500 Eur in Italy/Spain/ Greece and reach 10K in US for Example, passing for 3000 in the Nordics or in Germany. But social systems, local employment tax and contributions are so different that it's impossible to compare. Maybe if you specify a specific country...

@Alex K Yes, sorry that's what I meant. @andrea I am in Houston, TX, USA. I honestly don't know what to ask for. I handle the general IT environment. It's a relatively small company (only about 35 computer users and almost everything is on the cloud). I spend about 80% of my time on the NetSuite System.
c
To be honest its different in TX. You might cap out at 80k even if you were great with that size firm.
c
If I were to get anything close to that I would be ecstatic; that's twice what I make now.

Move West...

whats the salary difference?
c
You need a lot more experience but once you get it a good admin gets 100k here...but the jobs are not plentiful
k
I'd probably encourage you to temper your expectations a bit as well, I'd consider you far closer to entry level than 3 years of experience.
Mainly because you are admittedly new to NetSuite (just a few weeks if I recall properly)
c
I am entry level, at least when it comes to netsuite.
when it comes to help desk, I am mid-level.
The Suite-foundation is the entry level certification for netsuite admins, right?
k
It's entry level certification for any Netsuite cert. Including standard user certifications
c
so it doesn't reallly get you any brownie points?
really*
you need the higher level certs before you can reasonably expect any type of salary boost?
c
Years of experience in NS is what matters...Lots of IT guys get pissed using NetSuite. Their experience is sometimes useless
Salary boosts come with expectations. if you are certified 4x over like me people start to expect things...but I have friends with no certifications that blow my skills away..
c
I find certifications helpful because they give you a general guide to how to approach the systems you're using.
I was so lost when I first started NetSuite.
Why do IT guys get pissed? I was definitely lost. I was like ... "where's the database interface..? we do everything with the UI?"
@KevinJ of Kansas also, just for perspective... looking at even the 0-2 years of experience with netsuite, the salaries even at the low end are way more than i make now haha
