does anyone have any experience automatically exporting currency exchange rates from NS into SFDC? i'm wondering what might be the best way to make that happen

Depends upon your use case on whether you want to sync at a schedule basis or on need basis. You can either have a schedule script in Netsuite, which hits an SFDC API. Or you can trigger Netsuite nestlet as on when required. You can get the exchange rate, through exchange rate API or through some search with effective date as one of the filter, totally depends upon your use case.

Our use case is that we would like to have it scheduled once daily, after the netsuite rates have been updated. That way we wouldn't need to get the rates from another party plus our netsuite and SFDC rates would always be the same. So this is something that can be done with a restlet? I created a saved search through the UI which basically has the data I need, I just don't know what the next step would be to get that information into SFDC.

I am not expert with sfdc, since in our company we have a seprate team that handles sfdc development. But we have both type of integration. one in which sfdc is calling our restlet when some specific task is done in sfdc. We also have a few schedule scripts which are syncing data every hour to sfdc. Will suggest the later approach for your use case create a schedule script and hit their api end point and sync the data.
