Can I set the default sales/expense account for a customer in order to override the default account(s) on the items being sold? We're trying to figure out how to correctly account for samples of our finished goods (manufacturing). The issue is, we do print-on-demand, so we don't keep finished goods on hand until an order is placed, so our inventory is all raw goods. I want to be able to set the default account for our "Samples" customer, so that the COGS impact goes to our Samples account (opex) rather than COGS as a normal sale would. My only other option is to create a copy of every single item we have and set the default account on those items, but this creates a ton more work.

Please investigate the Custom GL Plugin. We do a similar thing for "evaluation" equipment. One thing for you to think about is how you will help the system know when an item is a sample verses a sale item.

@Netsuite Tragic I will look into that thanks. My goal would have been, anytime a sale gets booked to our dummy "Samples" customer, the COGS impact would hit Samples instead of COGS

then the GL Plugin is your new friend.

@Netsuite Tragic, apologies but having a bit of trouble finding the correct bundle I should be installing. Following the suiteanswers link you provided, but the only bundle that looks like it would be correct only has 16 total downloads, so I don't think this is the correct one.

The NS feature is the allow override from where you can then create your own process and scripts.

ahhhh gotcha, so not an already created bundle I can configure. A bit over my head, so probably need to look for an alternative solution
