I'm working with custom centers/tabs/categories. Many of my categories are ss results but I don't want the user to see "Customize". I want the navigation to end with the category label. As seen below, I need it to stop at "Training Items" and not display Customize (without removing the ss edit permission of the role/user)

@Robert Diaz Switch to the role for which you do not want the "Customize" ability. See if clicking "Customize" actually allows them to customize it. If it does, remove that ability from the role permissions.
