How do you set the default for the sales rep field?

Are you trying to default it on the transaction or Customer Record?

i want to set the default value of sales rep on new customer records. I want to set it to assign by territory by default.

Not sure of a standard way, but the way Ive done in past is a simple workflow

You can create sales territories and default the sales rep. Setup Customer rules and then setup up territories

We hav ethe territories set up. but when creating a new customer, the sales rep field still starts as blank.
