Does anyone have an example or a real life use case of custom revenue recognition event functionality of ARM? Thank you.
k
yes, sure. It is all about the use case. In my case we had a rigid moving rev rec of always recognizing rev in Dec but not in any other month and start/end dates could be any). We tried custom rev events first, but then it did not work properly (do not recall details why). So we had to a script then with custom record having that table showing all options where Dec is the 100% rev rec month. Hope it makes sense, @Luis ๐Ÿ™‚

I worked with someone once who supposedly could not recognize revenue until the item was received by the customer. So they set up a custom event that was ship date + a certain number of days, depending on how far away it shipped.

@RJMNS this is so common, we just tell to recognize on fulfillment and be done with it, not material enough. but if it does become material, yes, thatโ€™s where that custom rev rec event comes in, like fulfillment date plus 7 days
but when the client hear it is a CO they go back ti โ€œah, fulfillment date is okโ€ ๐Ÿ™‚

Ohh that makes sense. They are indeed for any revenue recognition events other than any of the standard events like billing, item fulfilment, etc. Thank you, both. As always.

Does it always require a custom record or probably a custom transaction type? In you case, @RJMNS, where did you store the receipt date?

It's been literally years since I dealt with it, but doesn't the custom trigger have a date box? I think it was there. If not, then I don't remember.

Yeah that definitely sounds familiar @Karina. How much is it worth to you?!
