I have a custom record that is created from the Purchase order but the custom record doesn’t have the custom field linking to the parent record set as “Record is Parent”. What would the effect be of doing that now? Would it affect the GL in any way?
b
No gl effect. It would allow the child records to shown on a sublist on the parent. Depending on other settings you can modify child records from the parent
v
@battk would this allow the record to also be joined to the parent? Basically I want to search the transactions applied to the purchase order like Bills and the Custom Record
b
yes
v
So I guess that is the problem… The custom record is not being joined to the purchase order
@battk When I try to search the Purchase Orders for the custom record I get nothing. There is no option to choose the join
b
you should only need to mark the record is parent on your custom record's tranasction select field
then the name of the custom record should appear on all transaction searches somewhere in the join list at the bottom of dropdowns
v
So that doesn’t seem to be the case. Basically it only goes one way. From the custom record to the purchase order but not the other way around
b
an example
the other half of the example
v
Yeah this is exactly what I have on my end. Damn this could be a problem. Thanks for the help
b
try recreating the field as record is parent set correctly
v
Ok. Thing is the field has been around for a while so it’d be hard to move the data over
b
csv import should be easy
export all your records out and then back in
or use a mass update
scripts or workflows could possibly work too if you are deeper into customizations
v
Yeah it’s not hard but there are other issues. I just tried the new field and it now does show up in the saved search but no results are in those columns
b
Make sure your child records have their new parent field set
To the transactions you are searching for
v
yup, it is. It seems like there might be a bug there so filed a case with NS
