Hey guys- I built a workflow and one of my state actions refuses to set a field values because it's an existing record. I had it on beforeload, and I've tried changing it to other triggers but nothing is working. I just want to change the status of a record when button "submit for approval" is clicked and it enters into the pending approval stage.

You have to set action on entry not in beforeload.

How did I miss that??? Thank you so much Sam. I've been staring at this for too long.
