Hm not sure what you mean. After generating amort journal entries for a particular period based off the schedule why wouldn't you be able to close it?

@Merik Ducker All of the periods that you will be amortizing TO have to be open. So if your amortization period is for 10 years, you have to have all of the next 10 years open in order to set up the amortization schedule.
