I need to whip up the list of Customer Deposits waiting to be applied EXACTLY as seen in the accept customer "Payment" worksheet. NOT a simple query for balance remaining kind of thing! Anyone?.. insights appreciated.

Just a guess but sounds like you need a transaction search where customer is X and status is Y and transaction type is a customer deposit.
