Hi All, What am I doing wrong when I want to create a custom field for a custom record pulling in the information as such. I get a return error:

You are trying to create a List/Record field (a drop down list) but you are trying to source it from a Free Text field which is not allowed

If I change it to freeform text, how can I ensure that it pulls from the Bulk WO and sources the line that I need?

So the SG (RSL) field is a Free Text field?

SG is a free text field and no we do cosmetics

Ok so those two should match up because the SG (RSL) is a free text and the field your making (Specific Gravity Results) is a free text

Would it be an issue if the Work Order is pulling that information from the item level

So the SG is stored on the Item Record,, then that sources into the Work order? Then you want the value from the Work Order to go onto the Finished Good custom record?

And your saying when you create the Finished Good record the Specific Gravity results field is blank?

When I create the FG record the gravity is blank

How are your creating the FG record? Through a workflow? or manualy in the UI?

Manually.

Is Bulk Work Order another field on your Finished good record?

Yes. It’s a trigger to pull in that information. Once I tested it again it pulled in the data. OH MY GAWD I hate NS not updating records

Hey! I have another question for you. Is there a way to source information from an item record onto a custom field for a transaction? So I want to pull in ‘container size’ into a custom field… but container size is found on the assembly build (BOM) under a custom item record Container size field is stored as a list and when someone selects the size it will save on the assembly record What is the best way to get that value? Do I need to pull that information from the item into the work order to then source it?

Are you storing the item on the COA record anywhere?

No. It’s all manual at this point. Yes the container size is on an item record type

Ok so there are 2 options 1. What you said. Set container size on Item record. Then source container size onto work order from item. Then source container size onto COA from work order Or 2. Add a List/Record field of Item to COA. Then source the Assembly (Item) from the Work Order onto the COA. Then use that new field to source the Container Size from the Item onto the COA. For the second option you might need a workflow to accomplish it

Okay. So if I go with option 1 this is the error I get. I understand that the list/record doesn’t match but the container size is a list record originally. Is it because I can’t use list/record item? It needs to be container size then source

Set the list/record field to container size. Not item
