This might be a silly question but: 1. Is the Dashboard limited to one KPI scorecard portlet? 2. If so, does that mean only 10 custom KPI's can be utilized on the dashboard at any given time?

I believe you only get one per dashboard. Not sure if this helps your curcumstance, but I've started using different subtabs. You can can add the KPI portlet to each subtab ie one on the Home tab, another on Transactions tab, another on Analytics. It can keep the KPI's on a somewhat related tab as well.

To answer your second question, you can built custom KPIs. I believe you can display more than 10, but you do only get one KPI dashboard per section.

I have a workaround if you want to hear it (but performance can't be guaranteed, since NS limits the # and type of portlets to prevent latent performance on loading the dashboards)

I think it makes sense to spread the dashboards over different modules as needed. Thanks all!
