@delzhand Map Reduce or Mass Update, but both would trigger all the UserEvent scripts and workflows related to the record being updated which may be part of the speed issues you are having... My recommendation, create a search with the Items and data you need, do your calculations outside NetSuite(excel) import CSV to the Custom Field without triggering scripts...
