Hi All, A customer has already multibook enabled (running for years) and they needs another book added, almost like copying the existing IFRS book and making it "US GAAP" Do I need a certified multibook resource for this task? Thanks
j
are you copying from the primary book, or you're wanting to make a copy of a secondary book and changes things from there?
m
@James Morris - this would be a copy from a secondary book - thanks!
j
hmmm...that does sounds a bit tricky. You probably are going to want someone who really knows what they're doing around multibook, although I don't personally put a ton of stock in certifications. If I had to guess, I think this is probably going to be a manual re-creation process involving opening up periods, but maybe someone who knows more than me has some tricks up their sleeves.
m
@James Morris - thanks for your comments. If you know someone who is able to do that, let me know : )

Can't say I have anyone in mind that I'd vouch for. I'm sure there are tons of sales people/consulting firms willing to sell you a bridge though 🙄. Just be real diligent vetting them, I suppose. Best of luck!

@Milcho Dimkov - is the goal to make new book a primary book? if so this is not available, i.e you primary book will be your first book always. If this is not the case, do you have HTP provisioned to you? If you do you technically can do it on your own. If you do not you need to find yourself a certified MB person to request HTP provisioning + the secondary book issuance.

Do you need all transactions in this new book? Or just like monthly entries? How transaction-heavy is this client? There's a tool that will help you populate additional books, but last time I used it, it wasn't spectacular. Also I'm not fully sure it will work from secondary book to secondary book. I only recall using it from primary>secondary. Also just an FYI that the more you have of amortization, FAM, Rev Rec, & high activity, the more complex it's going to be if you're using the data population tool and just in general. I'd definitely recommend getting an expert involved and of course testing in Sandbox first. Agree with above that a certification may or may not mean anything, but it would be good to get someone involved who can prove they've dealt with it multiple times. You can create all sorts of problems for yourself if you mess it up. Source: started doing multibook when I didn't fully know what I was doing. Created all sorts of headaches for myself and in some cases others. Luckily nearly all in Sandbox.....

I am with @RJMNS on issues easily piling up.. Plus, there is no Help on MB implementation available, and for the reason. Also, any issues you have during implementation you’d have to deal with Support on them.

Thanks everyone for your replies! OK, I'll need to find a resource for that 🙂

I can help with multi book - how far back are you looking to copy or migrate?
