is there any way to get netsuite excel exports to save as xlsx? we get errors every time we open an xls from netsuite

@depthless Nope, don't think so. My understanding is that NetSuite puts it in the xls to preserve formatting and backwards compatibility. Believe it or not some people are still using Excel 2003, and I'm sure they'd pitch a fit if they were forced to switch to 2013.

@depthless There might be a way to turn off that warning in excel, but i haven't looked into it. Plus it might turn off some legit warnings at the same time.

NetSuites "Excel" exports are actually an XML format that was introduced between the .xls to .xlsx change and basically not used anymore. They just change the file extension to xls incorrectly to make sure it opens in Excel which is what causes that warning.

ahhh that explains why some users randomly end up saving as .xml?

Yep when you click save as Excel correctly auto selects the correct file extension for the file format
