Has anyone found a workaround or creative solution for not being able to display a custom segment as a column (like department, class, location, accounting period, etc) in a Budget vs. Actual report? Seems so strange since it is available in all other financial reports.

we created a custom record called budget and then added accounting period and anything other fields that we needed to report on to those records. we do end up entering the budget in two places, but it's once a year and the benefit for reporting is worth it.
