Hi guys, I'm trying to create a promo for purchase orders but I can only figure out how to apply promo's to sales orders. Is there some trick I am missing? Basically instead of the promo applying to the customer, I want it to apply to the vendor. I can't find anything in the help.

@Isabella Sounds like you are talking about discount items on vendor bills/POs or specific item pricing by vendor, but not totally clear to me what you're asking.
You can also enter a payment terms discount at the bill payment step.
i
Yes, discounting items on POs for certain time periods based on who purchased the item
I want it to automatically discount the PO, not have to manually do it
so our vendor does these promotions for certain items based on if its a certain customer purchasing it
if that makes more sense
j
but your company always gets the promotion, right?
or you're only enter those that you get
i
the promo lasts a certain period of time, its just not every customer who purchases the item from us will get the promo, so i need to define it based on time, items, and certain customers

Wait now I'm confused. Is this a promotion reducing the sale price on sales orders/invoices for your customers, or a discount from your vendors reducing the purchase price on POs/bills for your company?
The former case would be price levels (see Answer Id: 28118). You would need to use promotions for time-bounded pricing (see Answer Id: 63010). The latter would be item pricing (see Answer Id: 28134). Not sure if time-bounded item pricing is possible without scripting the addition of discount items to the PO/vendor bill.

discount from your vendors reducing the purchase price on POs/bills for your company
but the only time that we get that discount is when a certain customer orders it.
so it bob orders it and he is on that promo then we get a discount for the PO
but if jim orders it and he isnt on the promo then we dont get a discount for the PO
the customer will never see a reduction in price, only we will on the PO
but from what Im reading I think you're right and it's going to require some scripting

@Isabella You might check out drop shipments and special orders as well. That deals with cases where essentially the SO and PO are connected (which is what your scenario sounds like). Maybe not exactly your scenario, but possibly something you can utilize there.
