And that is either being hired by a larger company or somehow start freelancing. I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable freelancing with my current skill level.

Start small. Don't freelance as a newbie. Join a company that either uses NetSuite or is a partner or contributor where you can work with / under their experienced staff. Once you dont need their help you are free to explore.

Agreed 100%. You will consult for a few years, get the ERP consultant certification definitely sets you apart from the crowd but even with user/admin experience, it is sought after. Just have to find a good NS partner to work for. Beware of 1099-only type consulting firms, you want to go with more established firms that have a good reputation and managers/sr consultants who are willing to mentor you. Be ready to learn lots of accounting if you aren't already doing so. End of date, everything is related to accounting with NS. Have domain and industry knowledge too, like how exactly do software companies operate, how do subscription management work (regardless of systems), what are the core Order to Cash functions?

NetSuite also has a online training portal which has access to all of their webinar classes. It cost $$$ though. My last company had it and I picked up a lot of knowledge going though the classes as i needed them.
