Is there a way to "csv import" contacts that are related to multiple companies? I've tried separating the companies with pipes

in a contacts-only import but it tells me: Multiple values found for a dropdown field that can only take one. for field "Company". I've tried importing customer + contacts at the same time, but it generates multiple contact records per person - one for each customer they're related to.

andrew_smith: Have you tried creating the contact first with blank company field. Then do a update import on the contact using a CSV file where it is just Contact and Company. Just make sure that the Company is already in NetSuite.
