Has anyone ran into problems with the Employee ID field in relation to duplicate names in an organization? It seems odd that NetSuite's default behavior is for the Employee ID field to auto-populate with the full name, instead of using a numerical value. When we switched to our own Employee ID's (numbers), we lost the ability to use any lookup fields that pull from the Employee name. For example, when using a number for the Employee ID, we added a new employee and tried to select their Supervisor from the dropdown. NetSuite concatenates the numerical value we set in the Employee ID field with the employee's full name. That would be fine, but they're sorting the data by the numerical Employee ID value, which renders the dropdown useless. With hundreds of employees, it's impossible to find anyone in the list with it sorted by the numerical value of their Employee ID. However, if we revert back to using the employee's full name as the Employee ID, then the Supervisor dropdown does not concatenate any data, and we have the list of the employees in alphabetical order. That would be fine, but what happens when there are two Mike W. Smith's in the organization? How would anyone know which one should be selected in that Supervisor dropdown (or any other of the many lookup fields that pull from that Employee ID field)?
