@creece best option - mother's milk, no more crappy formulas, no issue with storage or need multiple walmart runs either. In 60's and 70's formula companies paid pediatrician to promote formulas saying that mother's milk is bad for babies.

I'm set now lol

Breastfeeding isn’t always an option though, and for women who cannot (for medical reasons or otherwise) they should not be shamed for having to use “crappy formulas”.

Here here Jen, esp. given the cost of having to buy formula if you can't BF, let alone the stigma and supply insecurity
I suppose the alternative is wet nursing (aka cross-nursing). But you can't really pay for that like you used to. It's normally a more casual arrangement, like a sister or close friend who happens to already be breastfeeding

This wound up happening with my wife. She just couldn't provide the necessary milk. Once we switched to formula my 2nd born started being able to sleep for more than 10 minutes at a time.
If anything - there are times I wonder if it's caused developmental delays with her. Those first several months were brutal from a sleep perspective. Even more so than normal "i'm a baby and can't sleep"

I agree that some cases mothers cannot nurse, with our 1st child my wife had to stop nursing after 6 months, because she had to take pain medication for her back. My point was the scrupulous marketing techniques of the big pharma for the baby formulas. I used to manage IT systems for a education provider which is the largest professional training source for lactation practitioners and nurses in the world. Used hear horror stories from all over the globe. Like in Indonesia pharma reps visits new mothers in the villages to promote baby formulas, just like Avon ladies. Every one knows the big scandal of tainted baby formulas in China and India, in fact in India all the culprits were some of the big pharma companies. In China all the culprits got their punishments but in India nothing happened to those big pharma. Seems like I am ranting 😁 because until last December I worked in pharma industry.
