@christina.finisinc - you know what, if these future orders don't really constitute that much in the bulk of the orders you process daily; best approach is to have a script that sets the commit columns in each of the inventory lines of future dated sales orders to Do Not Commit. It's a more straight forward process...all you need to do is set a trigger in the order form for the script to determine it's a future dated order. Like a checkbox. So if the checkbox is marked, the script sets the Commit column to Do Not Commit. In view mode, you can create a button that when clicked, the order quantities are then release for commitment- This way, the process does not disrupt the bulk of the orders you process daily. The downside with the preference we are talking about is it applies to all therefore you will really need to meticulously manage the commitment of all orders.
