Has anyone created a shipment record to keep track of shipments for orders? We have a lot of orders that get shipped out in multiple parts so we can't just use the SO to track this info. I'm currently creating a shipment record but wanted to see if anyone else has done something similar

Are you not using Item Fulfillments? What is that record missing that you're not using that?

We were but can't rely on that anymore because sometimes we combine orders from multiple orders for the same customer

Is it like the counterpart of Inbound Shipment record (from the procurement process flow)?

What I've done before is pull the tracking numbers from the Item Fulfillment into a custom field on the Sales Order. That's the closest thing I can think of.

We made a custom shipment record that we assign our item fulfillments to We used the Record is Parent box so when you look at the shipment you can see all the fulfillments listed like a sublist We also integrated it with our shipping carrier It works pretty nice overall. You can make it as complex or as simple as you like
