OKAY TIME FOR SOMETHING SERIOUS...I want to get some remote vehicles and drones are too advanced for now with my 7 year old. Considering RC cars and ramps etc thorugh my neighborhood. Anyone in this hobby and can recommend something for a starter kit?

I got one of these little drones for my neighbor who was about the same age and he loved it and could fly it. I only build/fly the drones so RC cars are out of my area but I can def ask some of my hobby buddies. https://www.amazon.com/Cheerwing-Control-Quadcopter-Altitude-Take-Off/dp/B06WGVP9FG/[…]sInFzcCI6IjAuMDAifQ%3D%3D&sprefix=drone+x25%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-9

@Jamie Houselog we have those exact drones, but different brand, Holy Stone (probably made by the same company, though, they are almost identical). Pretty fun for young kids and they use them indoor. They aren’t heavy enough to knock anything over or break stuff. My 6 and 9 year old like them a lot.

I'm deep in the drone hobby if ya'll have any questions just let me know.

Waiting until my kids are a bit older before trusting them with more expensive or delicate stuff
That Cheerwing looks pretty nice for under $30

Its pretty fun for a toy. There's no replaceable battery so you gotta fly and then charge it. Its only line of sight too so no FPV

Given how my 6 year old treats stuff, the mini drone toys are just right for now.

Totally understand. I'm excited for my boys to get old enough to give them a go.

@scottvonduhn I also have a Holy Stone HS720G for me. Great starter drone for adults and it is on sale again. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09N37GND2?psc=1&smid=A3QTILSGJZUURE&ref_=chk_typ_imgToDp

For RC cars, I would probably avoid Traxxas. I don't think I have ever used mine and not had something break on it. Even when just playing around in the yard and not hitting anything. Arrma makes some decent ones.
@Jamie Houselog How's the software on that one? I have a Mavic Pro that looks pretty similar to that.

what are you wanting to do? DJI drones are only good for photography
they fly like potatos

Idk, my DJI drone is pretty good at crashing into things

i started w/ the DJI FPV one
I immediately crashed it into the house and broke an arm and was like "i'm gonna learn to just build these"

I hit my house with mine too. It was too slow in the mode that allows for obstacle avoidance, so of course I had to turn that off. I hit a tree as well and broke the gimbal holding the camera on. Camera was fine, so I replaced the gimbal fairly easily.

if you can build a PC you can build a custom drone and they are epic
