Hi everyone, I am in need of some suggestions or advice regarding items in NetSuite. I have a scenario where there is a main item being sold but depending on the line of business, the name known to the customer varies. Kinda a parent/child situation. I'm looking for a way to have the main item decremented in regards to inventory but have the name known by the customer shown on the invoice. I am thinking Matrix or Alias would work but I wanted to get other opinions. I would need to be able to report on the main item or the child/alias item names. Any recommendations (high level)? Would matrix or alias even work or would it be a customization? Thanks in advance!

I don't see it now in my account, so maybe it's an add-on bundle (or I imagined it..ha), but I thought there was like a "customer name" option you could have on items where you could have a customer-specific part number for each item like you can on the purchasing side. Might not hurt to search SuiteAnswers for something like that because I could have sworn that exists. I think maintaining it could be somewhat painful though

Thank you! You are correct, there is a customer name option and I considered that approach. But we were thinking along the same lines that it might be a pain to maintain.

I think the customer number would work. You would have to update your pdf form to show that customer number instead of the regular item number But it would accomplish what you need. It’s not too difficult to manage You can do it by csv import if there are lots of number to add
