I use slack on mobile as well, but for a different reason. The desktop client on a Mac is so slow to notify me of incoming calls that the Android mobile version consistently alerts me several seconds before my desktop does. No idea why it’s so much worse. My desktop has a high speed ethernet connection, too, and my phone has a spotty signal, but it still beats it.

This is clearly because Android is a superior OS

I think it has more to do with the fact that the Mac desktop client is another Electron app. They are all second-rate in my opinion, in terms of responsiveness and performance.
Which just shows how much Slack cares about the desktop experience, yet they want people to pay for it.

VSCode is an electron app IIRC, and it's plenty responsive.

That is true. I’m not really sure why the Mac desktop Slack app is so slow in this regard, but it definitely is. I have seen it across three different laptops, so I know it’s not just one machine.
And I do use VSCode on my macs as well, and it’s performance seems fine.

I guess you can write crappy slow code on any platform 🙂
