Hi all, I'm investigating leveraging Netsuite for demand planning. We currently do this externally in Qlik. I'm struggling to find any good demonstration videos of the end setup and the value this provides. I have seen the setup video and marketing videos... but wondering if anyone has any feedback or reviews on using Netsuite for demand planning? Thanks in advance.

I've configured and tried both time phased and MRP with demand planning. They are both okay in their own way it really depends on your business needs. It doesn't fit great with custom E2O projects or highly configured products. But if your trying to pull in forecasts or pre defined plans it could be helpful I find it to be very contingent on how you are expecting to use it

Demand planning is very basic. NetSuite likely will never add any additional features to it. More than likely they are focusing their efforts on Advanced MRP
From what i see demand planning module hasn’t changed in 10 years

Thank you for the feedback and insight. Any recommendations on how to manage demand within Netsuite if not through the module? Or is it best to export out of Netsuite into a third party platform?

Are you trying to do some sort of forecasting using quotes or opportunities? Or are you just wanting to see all current demand (sales orders and work orders) with dates?

We would be importing demand from our 18 month forecast that is driven by the finance department and created in adaptive planning and also 3month view from our salesforce pipeline. The supply chain team is currently managing multiple g-sheets to handle production planning based of this data. I'm exploring if we can pull this demand into Netsuite and then have the supply chain team exclusively work in Netsuite and leverage automation of PO's and TO's etc. Long term we are integrating salesforce with Netsuite so the plan is that we will be able to pull this short term demand in to Netsuite.

Demand Planning should be able to work for this. There should be a Demand Source option on the item location record that lists out how to capture demand. One of them is Forecast From Demand Plan which means you can import weekly or monthly demand into NetSuite
Once the demand is in there, you would run supply plan and it would recommend how you could satisfy that demand with recommended PO’s
Some limitations include: Not being able to count two locations as supply for one demand source, wanting the system to recommend PO’s when no stock and TO’s when stock is in another location (it’s basically one or the other), non real time data (must run demand plan and supply plan manually),

Appreciate the insight Howard. Thank you. Are you able to explain a bit more what you mean by? I don't fully follow. wanting the system to recommend PO’s when no stock and TO’s when stock is in another location (it’s basically one or the other)

He means with MRP if you setup an it to be transferred from another location it will Always recommend a TO even if there is no inventory at the transfer from location Most would want to make a PO when there is no inventory and transfer when inventory is at another location. But it doesn't work that way
