Hi folks, hoping to get some insight on the NetSuite employee expenses capability as my company is weighing some options to implement this. We're debating between using a third party (i.e. Expensify, SAP Concur) or the native NetSuite capabilities.
Is anyone here familiar with employee expenses in NetSuite and can comment on what works well or doesn't? Or if you opted to use a third party, why you decided to? Thanks in advance!!

NetSuite can do the basic stuff (expense reports, attaching receipts, etc). they also had a mobile app that is a bit better now than a few years ago. However, in my experience, if you are a heavy users, tools like expensify have had very good reviews in integrating with NetSuite. you can schedule some demos with each and you will see.

Expensify is much more user friendly

We use Expense Reports quite a bit in NetSuite. I will say it works okay but it doesn't have the ability to scan receipts and read them into an expense report like expensify. Also adding receipts isn't the greatest. We try the mobile app but then applying the correct project, task, department, etc isn't controllable
Overall I do think it works pretty well but if you like all the “bells and whistles” like OCR tech to scan receipts and easy UI for taking pics or storing receipts then something else is probably better
We've used it for 3 years and have 200+ employees using it and it's been okay
Much easier than timesheets or purchase requests that's for sure

Agreed, the NS features work just fine without the fancy stuff. the good thing is that it keeps it simple and cheap, no need for integrations. it really all depends on the company size/budget/needs.
