is it possible to make a customer facing payment gateway in NS? what do I read up on to learn about this?
j
If I understand what you're after, you can have a look at customer centre, but the UI is not much fun for a customer
j
ok I'll have a look thanks
j
you could integrate with stripe or another payment provider for a "pay now" kind of box (alternatively you could put that link in an invoice or reminder email)
j
ah there's some interesting ideas. thanks Jon
j
there might also be some people around here who have prettied up the netsuite customer centre using restlets. our customers are usually pretty tech savvy but the customer centre was beyond them: too hard to find anything
m
I have a couple of leads you could look into, but we are still in early discovery phases here so haven't look too much into any of them yet
https://ezycollect.com.au/simplypaid/ - I think @mattb uses/used them
j
ok, thanks for the pointers
m
Stripe has a hosted payment page you could integrate with NetSuite with some work (https://stripe.com/docs/billing/invoices/hosted) Stripe owns a company called SuiteSync that integrates with NetSuite, but I've heard each integration is bespoke and about 6k USD
j
oof
m
Similarly CyberSource has hosted invoice feature that could be integrated with NetSuite with some dev work. https://developer.cybersource.com/api/developer-guides/dita-invoicing/Introduction.html I believe CyberSource integration is much better supported in NetSuite

Speak to @Tim White from CSSCloud as I understand they have hosted payment solution

I've heard people mention Tipalti and PayStand
@Jon Kears I have in my notes that you mentioned Quadient FRM-500 as a potential solution?
m
@michoel @JBL yes we use SimplyPaid (ezyCollect product) which includes a nice looking customer-facing payment page (www.jlborgo.com.au/payment). If this link originates from an email template the customer name, payment amount and transaction will be auto-populated and create a payment record for the invoice transaction in question. also adds their own ‘pay now’ button on the invoice record in NetSuite UI. downsides: 1.6% + 30c processing (though to be fair no software monthly fees) and i it doesn’t have anything to do with netsuite’s own CC processing capability e.g. storing cards against customer/contact records
j
very interesting, thanks
m
ezyCollect is their next product up which does involve software fees. does a lot of automated email reminders which TBH you can just do yourself with workflows. i felt at this stage too much of the process was living on their end/platform
m
At my previous company we discussed with ezyCollect to use our own merchant facilities and gateway which were significantly cheaper. I don't recall the particulars but I think they said if we do that we it wouldn't be able to have integration to create payments in NetSuite
m
sounds about right. i’ve had thoughts of looking further into the eWay integration to store credit cards against customer records but all the self-customer payment stuff is non-existant from what i can see
m
Haven't looked into it but seems like they have Easy2Pay product for online payment pages https://www.eway.com.au/add-ons/easy2pay/
m
hmm interesting
ultimately i want suitecommerce standard (the most recently launched commerce platform) to replace the lousy customer centre + be a portal for online ordering + all customer self-service tasks (download invoices that originated from any method, download statements, make payments)
m
Looking a little closer that's a third party product but eway was Pay Now buttons that you could probably add to invoice PDF/emails
j
yes i noticed that too
i was thinking one option would be to build our own hosted form. pass a link to the form asking for payment, with parameters for the amount, then just submit it to eway? doable I think but might not be super user friendly
j
@michoel re quadient FRM 500: didn't pan out for us. The company that was making it were bought out, not sure what their plans are re the software. It's a shame as it looked good
m
@JBL how did you go?
j
stuck it on the back burner for now 😂
m
haha gets a bit like that
j
yeah we have lots of other big things to sort out right now
plus the lockdown in Sydney means I'm not getting much work done
m
shouldn’t it be more? 🙃
anyway for me simplypaid was the quickest turn key not-too-much involved solution
j
@mattb great, thanks for letting me know

https://www.netsuite.com/blog/netsuite-release-2021-release-2-brings-online-invoice-payment-options-flexible-inventory-allocation-and-automation-to-manage-retirement-plans-sneak-peek
It’s now easier for customers to pay invoices online with a new feature called payment link. Emailed invoices can now include a link to a secure payment portal where customers can view and pay their bill in a click via credit or debit card, PayPal or other online payment method. They can pay partially or in full depending on rules you set, and NetSuite automatically records the payment accordingly.
Looks like pay now customer link will be native in next release
j
Thanks for the heads up Michoel!

Also this:
Spend less time on manual invoice entry and clearing with the new automated cash application function. It automatically matches imported bank payments with open invoices in NetSuite.
