@jen When you're setting up your csv import, under "Import Options" -> "Advanced Options" check the "Custom Form" selection. It'll probably be defaulted to a custom form that you have set as "Preferred". When we do custom records like you described, we make the "parent" field disabled on the form. Yours may be set up that way also. When that's the case, that field won't show up in the mapping. I keep the original NS generated standard form enabled so I can use it for csv updates.
