anyone here ever upgraded an non-OW account to oneworld? this client has been on the system for 20 years and is looking to segment their business.

I recall someone on here saying it’s easy these days, as non-oneworld accounts now have a single invisible subsidiary in the background. Am sure someone with knowledge will reply though :)

yeah i just read on the user group that NS requires the customer to have a sandbox account. not sure yet if they do or if this is still a requirement.
i'm interested particularly if there is any charge involved since ALL accounts are OW-enabled now and you can have unlimited subs in the same country/currency. i will def post when i find out. I asked the client to reach out to their sales rep. Another option that could work is just doing custom segments.

ONEWORLD is a different pricing tier

for sure if it is multi-currency and multi-country. but its included in all newly-provisioned accounts and is unlimited for 1 country/1 currency (i believe)

You will have to do a sandbox to turn on one world - though the process is significantly easier since NS effectively made all accounts one world accounts with the subsidiary field buried.
Things to check/fix would include taxes/CC processors/COA/Items - but that's mostly about what you need your account to look like after it's all done - that said, you definitely want to test it all because taxes not working can bring you to a grinding halt.
Had a client turn it on in production without fully testing everything in sandbox and had to emergency fix it - that said, it was fortunately only a couple hours for me to get everything fixed once I figured out what happened.
That said - don't forget about subsidiary restructure/hierarchy change needs in testing. Again - it's a lot easier than it was, but still dangerous.
