Has anyone used the subsidiary hierarchy modification feature? I have an interest from accounting but I want to hear horror stories and pitfalls
k
it depends. what are you trying to accomplish?

My understanding is that NS is going to force you to use a sandbox to test it in before you do it in production. Be sure you do a boat load of testing. Eliminations, standard transactions, intercompany journals, etc. I haven't personally used it, but talked to others who have - and they aren't usually small projects unless you were a single subsidiary and adding more and don't want to add them as children and haven't done anything yet.

I have done this few times shit load of work, need to test every possible scenarios. If you have multi currency subs then currency reval and fx rates needs to be look into seriously. Now if you have more that one subs also pay attention to CTA balances.

I have used it for more than 5 times so far and no issues at all. Just make sure you have your consolidated exchange rates downloaded. Reports, you need to verify. If you will change the top level entity, make sure that you backed up and checked the COA and Roles subsidiary assignment.

I suppose it depends on clients’ particulars. I recently worked with three HMs and we had to go through the requirments to make sure it will stay the same/agreed on after HM is completed. Mainly, around consolidated invoicing vs multisub customers, and if there is Suitebillling involved, then particular custom scripts. So yes, it can be bad if not thought through.

I’ve also used it multiple times with no issues. This has been for customers with multi currency and tax config. Of course test thoroughly regardless if you go this route.
