yeah, the WYSIWYG editor was breaking something fierce. switched to the "code" view, and then back to the WYSIWYG editor, and the items kept going away. Then I noticed the items "off the page" at the top. When I went back to the "code" editor, it had placed them above the opening pdf tag.... smh
