Is it necessary to install the SuiteCloud Development Integration bundle? All it does is create a New integration record which I can create myself as well.

you wont be able to use any of the sdf tools with access tokens that dont use the integration record from the SuiteCloud Development Integration

that said, most of the sdf related tools will automatically install the integration record if you generate tokens with them
