@Albert Margarit (NS Eng Lead) @Carlos Olivares (NS DevTools PM) is there any advice from NetSuite on this yet?

Hey @erictgrubaugh, been honest and with the short knowledge that I have accumulated so far, the response that @dmashburn3 received its correct. Bundles are going to be deprecated someday as a distribution system because wasn't meant to work for that. On the other hand I think that there is no oficial way to "convert Bundles into SuiteApps", but I guess that you can always create a SuiteApp project from scratch and then migrate the objects/files that you have in your bundle to you SuiteApp. At any case if the bundle conversion happens from our side, we will taking care of the backward compatibility to avoid friction to your customers (if possible). But definetly, I will clarify this with @Albert Margarit (NS Eng Lead) and then come back to you in this same thread.

In this case, creating the SuiteApp from scratch and migrating the objects is done; that's not really the issue. Part of the conversion process is going through each individual custom Object and setting its
App ID
field to match the SuiteApp ID. We can't go through each customer account and do that, so if we tried to deploy our SuiteApp to a customer account that has the bundle, we'd get an error because our script IDs would already exist. We can't uninstall the bundle and lose all of the configuration and historical data, either.

So on that, I would say that we currently do not have any official way to do the conversion from SDF yet, at any case I will write a ticket right now to discuss the use case and evaluate dependencies so it can be included in our backlog ASAP (and of course, I will ping you as soon as I have the answer you are looking for)

I think that if you created the Bundles using SDF, is easier than if you did it without (because if am not wrong, the publisher Id is included and there is a process to fo over the files and make the reconstruction of the SuiteApp, but I am not 100% sure about this). -> I will confirm this

Yeah I assume those who start a brand new application using SDF will be just fine
