Hi all blob wave I'm trying to link a 'project' (total scope of work that contains multiple projects under one umbrella) to a sales order and vice versa - so that we can track time towards these projects (and their tasks) is there a resource or process guide I can go off of? thanks in advance!

No guide for this that I know of but if I’m understanding your requirement correctly it will be tricky. NS doesn’t natively support multiple ‘child’ projects rolling up to a parent for billing purposes that I know of. You can definitely link them but the native project billing function and association of project to sales order doesn’t acknowledge child projects. So you’re looking at a blank page customization based on your requirements. Are you only trying to meet reporting needs but still billing each child project individually?

Hi Paul, thanks for your reply! We are not necessarily billing each child project individually - but a fraction of each will be billed monthly and we wanted to keep track of that if they all add up to one total. We were told we don't necessarily need to use a sales order - so we may go in a different direction. The reason we want to keep record of each individual project cost is to track how much we make on certain projects and using that to forecast for future scopes

Okay well in that case I’d look at a custom field on the project with ‘store value’ unchecked and then using a saved search to populate it with the sum of the amount billed to date, then a second custom field only on the parent that sums the value of the first field across all the children. Or you could skip the custom fields and just do it with two searches
