Anyone using MRP that can summarize their experience with it in a couple sentences? I know it's pretty damn new, so not expecting much in way of responses
e
It is pretty new and we are also new to it. We just had LCS training for our end users. The biggest takeaway is that the planning engine is like a sandbox inside your prod environment which means that it doesn’t affect your transactional database until you execute the plans you created. So you can create your plans and do your what-ifs and only when you trigger the engine to execute those plans will it touch your transactional data (ie create POs, WOs, Assembly Builds, etc)

Do you happen to know which user guide from Oracle that it's located in? Going to try and do a little reading on it, and not quite sitting on an LCS pass without some overhead work to get it assigned to me.
Greatly appreciate that feedback! Thank you

@Eric B which course did you do on LCS?
e
@Suitestallion LCS doesn’t have anything formal yet so they tailored a training session for us. I highly recommend asking for Matthew McDonald who was the instructor.
s
We don't have company lcs we only have single user but if available on lcs I was going to register and get everyone in same room
It's on demand so it's online I am sure they would charge you extra for personalized training
e
@KevinJ of Kansas it was from a slide deck prepared by the instructor and we had two 2-hour instructor-led sessions for our users. My understanding is that they don’t have anything that’s like an on-demand video training. There’s supposed to be a 3 hr video in SuiteAnswers but I wanted an actual instructor that could answer questions from our users.

Right. That was nice of them. So, 2-3 hours. Fun.
s
How much did they charge you approximately?
e
@Suitestallion I believe you can purchase LCS Extended Packs for MRP that will have the instructor led-training and have multiple people join into the call like we did. We had remaining hours from our LCS Training to consume for the live training.

I agree with the earlier assessment. It's a great tool overall, sometimes it's just called Supply Planning or the Planning Workbench also. Currently any reporting is limited, but the tool itself is solid. Fair warning is it does require a bit of data understanding and planning for configuration.
